The box office team of Clark Gable and Jean Harlow at MGM was pure gold. They appeared together in a total of six films for MGM. In reality, Gable and Harlow were just close friends and never romantically involved. The platinum blonde Harlow was Gable’s gal pal at the studio. He always called her “The Baby” as did everyone else at MGM. But the chemistry between them was magic. Tragically the teaming came to an end on June 7, 1937 when Harlow died unexpectedly at the age of 26 from kidney failure. Gable was utterly devastated by Harlow’s untimely death.
